The OHA Journey

Orsett Heath Academy proudly opened its doors in September 2020, welcoming an initial cohort of 120 Year 7 students. Located in a temporary building adjacent to Thurrock Rugby Club, our early years were dedicated to laying the foundation for a vibrant educational environment focused on achievement and personal growth.

In September 2024, we celebrated a significant milestone as our students and staff transitioned to our state-of-the-art main school building, designed to accommodate a new Year 7 cohort of 240 students. This impressive 8,610 m², three-storey facility is equipped to serve up to 1,200 pupils aged 11 to 16 and features collaborative breakout areas, a stunning double-height dining area, a dedicated performing arts hub, and high-quality classrooms that foster an inspiring learning atmosphere.

Additionally, in September 2024, we launched our House System, which comprises four distinct 'Houses'. Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, the names of these Houses were thoughtfully selected by our students during the 2023-24 academic year, encouraging a sense of community and belonging among our pupils.
